Miss Louis Guinto, An Anguillian Student, Placed Second in the Scotiabank Bright Future and Rotary-Rotaract Club of St. Maarten Spelling Bee.
Miss Louis Guinto, a Grade Five student from Morris Vanterpool Primary School, placed second (2nd) in the Scotiabank Bright Future and Rotary – Rotaract Club of St Maarten Annual Spelling Bee. The competition took place at the Belair Community Centre in St Maarten. There were three rounds: the preliminary round, semi-finals and finals. Miss Guinto was among the five (5) students who participated in the keenly contested finals on Sunday 26th October 2014.
The Department of Education commends Miss Guinto for her outstanding performance in the competition. The Department also expresses gratitude to the following:
– Rotary-Rotaract Club of St Maarten for the opportunity afforded to the Anguillian students to participate in the competition.
– Mr. Seymour Hodge President, Rotary Club of Anguilla, ScotiaBank Anguilla, Government of Anguilla, Anguilla Air and Sea Ports Authority and Funtime Charters for their assistance in facilitating the children’s travel to St Maarten.
– The parents and teachers of all the students for their assistance in preparing them for the competition.
The other two (2) participants from Anguilla were Miss Frankajha Fleming from Valley Primary School and Mr. Omar Hodge from Morris Vanterpool School.
