A small representative group of inmates from Her Majesty’s Prison in Anguilla donated supplies of fruit and water to the residents of the Miriam Gumbs Senior Citizens Home.
Prison Officer, Rondel Kyte, who spoke on behalf of the inmates, said the donation was part of their continued efforts to demonstrate their support and appreciation for the Home for taking care of the elderly.
“The eighteen bowls of healthy fruit and the case of water represent the inmates’ desire to assist the Home as they did two months ago,” the Prison Officer said.
“It is also an effort by HMP United, a group of Prison Officers, to showcase the community spirit at the prison – a place which is not well recognised in the community,” he added. “We are also elevating the inmates at the prison so that when they are released they can return to the society as responsible and caring individuals.”
