POLICE ISSUE STATEMENT ON INCIDENTS

Jenell Carty of North Hill was arrested on the 6th June, 2012, at West End for having in his possession a controlled drug, namely 210 plants of cannabis.

On the 16th October, 2014, Mr. Carty was found guilty for possession of a controlled drug in the High Court and was sentence to fifteen months in prison, the sentence was suspended from the 20th October, 2014. Further, he was fined US $10,000.00 to be paid within six month, failing to pay, he will be imprisoned for three month. The drugs are to be destroyed in seven days.

On Wednesday 15th October, 2014, at about 23:58hrs, Police responded to a report of a fire at Shoal Bay. On arrival a restaurant on the beach was seen engulfed in flames. The Airport Fire Service was called and the flames were put out. However, the Restaurant was totally destroyed.

At about 00:30 hrs, on 16th October, 2014, Police also responded to a report of a dwelling house on fire at North Side. The Airport Fire Service was called and the fire was put out. The dwelling house sustained damage to a bedroom. A suspect was arrested shortly after and subsequently charged with arson.
The suspect S.W of South Valley was taken before the Magistrate’s court on Friday 17th October, 2014, and was remanded to Her Majesty Prison.

The Royal Anguilla Police Force is carrying out investigation into the two fire report. An Arsonist is expected to arrive on Island on Wednesday 22nd October, 2014, to assist the RAPF with the investigations.
