Following the parade the children, along with teachers and parents, were addressed by Chief Minister and Minister of Health, Mr Hubert Hughes. In his recorded message he praised the work of the Department of Health Protection/Environment Health Unit for helping to keep the people of the island safe from vectors and their associated diseases.

He said it was difficult for the vector control officers to execute their duties given the scarce resources and shortage of staff. He nevertheless said the Ministry of Health and Social Development was proud of the workers and intended to give them all the support they needed to continue their good work. He was also delighted that the Caribbean Commercial Bank has been the platinum sponsor of the month-long programme of vector awareness activities over the years.
