Pictured above is Anguilla’s José Vanterpool at an October 21st, 2014 event together with 250 technical, managerial and governmental executives at Level 39, Canary Wharf, overlooking London. José is in his initial months at the University of Bristol where he is studying Computer Science.
The event is also the kick-off for a planned UK Trade Mission in early 2015 focussed on delivering British technology to “Smart Cities” globally. India alone plans 100 such cities.
Video excerpts from the Smart City event along with other leading participants such at ARM, BT, IBM, the Technology Strategy Board, the Digital Policy Alliance and various universities can be found at: www.hypercat.io/smart-cities-need-trusted-iot-foundations.html
Anguilla-Counts and the .ai Anguilla Incubator plan very active participation in this “Smart City” movement because Anguilla is an ideal country-level pilot site, cohort, petri-dish, development centre, and a blank canvas on much exciting new policy legislation that may be required.
Anguilla has a significant track record in such roles as the first country in the world to have digital signature legislation. This, because it was required for the world’s first completely online Companies Registry (ACORN). Anguilla was also the first country in the world to conduct a national census using hand held computers.
Anguilla is an ideal small jurisdiction in which to start new projects before spending vast amounts for large conversions, lengthy battles with entrenched lobby groups or other implementation complexities facing larger nations.
Talks are ongoing with businesses and governments to help them finalize their initial models and to help Anguilla keep pace with even the largest of “Smart City” developments and innovations … with a view to extending our advantages to other nations.
