Police in Anguilla are investigating two violent robberies on the island. One is a case on Tuesday, September 16, in which a Chinese Restaurant in The Valley was robbed.
On arrival at the scene, the Police were informed that two males, wearing masks and armed with guns, entered the restaurant as it was about to be closed. They made off with the cash register which contained an undisclosed sum of money.
In another incident, three young men were questioned as part of an investigation into the robbery of a Beach Bar at Sandy Ground on Friday, September 12. Five armed men reportedly entered the bar. The investigations are continuing.
There were a total of eight serious crimes committed in Anguilla during the period September 10-17. The offences included one burglary at Rey Hill where a water pump was stolen; six thefts at Little Dix, South Valley, The Quarter, North Hill, Island Harbour and Tackling Estate. The stolen items included cellular phones and a bicycle. A robbery was reported in The Valley, but no other details were provided by the Police.
Nine persons were arrested during the period as follows: two males for burglary; two males for possession of cannabis; one female for immigration purposes; one male on a default warrant; one female to prevent a breach of the peace; one male for driving under the influence; and one female for possession of cannabis.
There were four traffic accidents.
