The Anguilla Amateur Volleyball Association has donated volleyballs and coaching manuals to all the primary schools and the sole comprehensive school on the island. The special Molten Light touch balls were designed for children ages 12 and under. These items were given to assist the Physical Education teachers with the teaching of Volleyball in the Primary school in Anguilla. This equipment dispersal is also timely as it will be necessary for the upcoming Primary School Volleyball Championships, slated for November 2014.
Last year the AAVA was able have a Physical Education Teacher attend a volleyball course in Tortola designed for them. The equipment given to the schools were obtained from the regional governing body for the sport of volleyball, NORCECA. This equipment is distributed on an annual basis and used to encourage the development of the sport on the island and the region.
Coach Café assisting volleyball development in Anguilla
NORCECA and the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) have provided Anguilla with a coach to help develop players. Coach João Carlos Moraes de Campos or affectionately known as Caoch Café throughout the Eastern Caribbean, has coached in Japan, The United States of America, the Eastern Caribbean is on his second visit to Anguilla. His presence is to help local coaches develop the tactical and playing skills of local players and impart skills and knowledge to fourth form students. The AAVA is indebted to NORCECA and the ECVA for ensuring that Anguilla was afforded the opportunity of a coach.
