The Valley, Anguilla – September 15th, 2014 – Since retiring from a successful professional cricketing career in 2012, Omari has reinvented himself as a hard working, boundary pushing reggae artiste. As a result, he felt the need to make a special trip to Barbados, where he is well known as former West Indies cricketer.
On arriving on island he was well received by persons, who recognized him instantly, from his cricketing days. Young and old respectively showed their love and respect for this young man who had retired at a high in his sporting career four years ago. Barbados was where Omari Banks played his first test match; therefore it has many great memories for him.
The aim and the focus for Omari was to reintroduce himself to the Barbadian public as a professional musician with his recently released album, with the three hit singles ‘Unafraid’, ‘Move On’ and ‘Jehovah Message’.
This young and talented singer, musician, songwriter and producer toured all the media houses where he participated in lots of interviews accompanied by a performance of his songs and impressed all who heard, saw and read about him.
On this trip, there was always the Sports reporters and writers who sought interviews with him for their sports segment and even asked him to return the following week for a second interview, like in the case of Barry Wilkinson of ‘Length and Line’ which is the watched show on cricket in the island and is also shown on Sports Max.
Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) amongst others were very happy to have him on the sports segment and also the entertainment segment. This media house operating as Carib Vision is seen in 26 countries.
Young Banks also showcased his music in a number of clubs and headlined an open mic show at The Hilton Hotel on of the nights.
There is no doubt that this talented and personable Anguillan star, was well received and his music appreciated throughout the length and breadth of Barbados.
Omari continues his journey with a performance slated for the post-Independence Freedom Fete on Friday September 26th, 2014 at the Charlestown Waterfront in Nevis.
Over the next few weeks he will be travelling to the U.S.A. where he will be fulfilling a number of planned engagements and continuing with his media promotions in various states acroos the country.
