The Alta Home/ Home Of Art Studio and Gallery located on Back Street, South Hill, officially opened to the public on Monday evening. The proprietor – artist Juan Romero, a national of the Dominican Republic, who has been resident in Anguilla for almost 10 years, says he is very excited to fulfill his dream of opening a professional art studio in Anguilla. Juan discovered his gift and passion for painting at the age of 10 years and took up art classes in his home country and further studied in New York, U.S.A. and since then has displayed his paintings in The Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten and Anguilla and prides himself in having painted a portrait of Mr. James Ronald Webster, the father of the nation, among many other persons.. The walls of the new Alta Home Art Gallery are filled with paintings of portraits, animals, houses, sceneries, people, and real life scenes
In addition to painting on canvas, Juan also does printing on Tee shirts and china ware.
The opening dedication was led by Pastors Pena, Rosa and Gareth Hodge. The appreciative bumper crowd was very excited and encouraging to Juan and was treated to a sumptuous meal with refreshments. The general public is invited to visit the new Art Studio and Gallery, just west of La Vue Hotel to view and purchase the art on display or bring your photo for Juan to bring it to life on canvas.
