A grand annual staff party and awards ceremony officially closed off the 2014/15 tourism season at CuisinArt Resort and Spa on Monday, September 1. The expanding property, owned by Mr Leandro Rizzuto, will reopen on Saturday, October 18. General Manager/Vice President, Mr Stephane Zaharia, told the hard-working employees, specially-dressed for the occasion, that the resort was looking forward to another successful season as it continued its expansion with the new Reef Hotel by CuisinArt. The event saw a lively spirit of camaraderie and delight among the employees, some of whose attire appropriately matched the theme of the celebration: “We’re bringing the 70s back”. Five employees were the winners of the season and carried away the main awards. They were:
• Keresha Webster of the Front Office – Employee of the Season. She was awarded with a glass plaque; a three-night complimentary stay for two at Caneel Bay, St John, USVI; a round-trip LIAT ticket; and US$200.00.
• Bill Hughes of the Engineering Department – Team Leader of the Season. He was awarded a glass plaque; a complimentary three-night stay for two at Four Seasons in Nevis; a round-trip ticket and UDS$200.00.
• Sean Richard, Food & Beverage Controller – Ambassador of the Season. He was awarded a glass plaque; a complimentary three-night stay for two at Peter Island in Tortola; a round-trip ticket; and US$225.00.
• Jonathan Hughes, Chef – Supervisor of the Season. He was awarded a glass plaque; a complimentary three-night stay for two at Carlisle Bay in Antigua; a round-trip ticket; and US$250.00.
• Joycelyn Reid of Santorini Restaurant – Manager of the Season. She was awarded a glass plaque; a complimentary three-night stay for two at a 5-Star Resort in Miami; a round-trip ticket; and US$300.00.
Other employees recognised and awarded included nine staff members with ten years of service (2004-2014).They were Oliver Carty, Debra Carty, Tashanna Connor, Brian Corbett, Nairobi Gomez, Maria Hodge, Donna Perkins, Chris Richardson and Guadalupe Sanchez. The additional awardees were employees with no late or sick reports during the season.Recognition was also given to the various departments for good performance. The Housekeeping Department was accorded the highest mark – 100 percent.
