Monday 5th August, 2014, The Valley, Anguilla. The Regional Law Revision Inc. (The Centre) has provided the Department of Agriculture with over 60 bags of shredded paper to be used as mulching material by farmers in Anguilla. The handover took place at The Centre’s office at Hannah Waver House and was attended by Hon. Attorney General Mr. James Wood Q.C., his successor Mr. Rupert Jones and Ms. Yolande Dash, Manager/Legislative Publisher, representing the Centre, and Mr. Carlton Fleming, Agronomist at the Department of Agriculture.
The Department of Agriculture recently embarked on sensitizing farmers on the benefits of using this form of material as an effective way to control weed and increase soil retainment of moisture. Receiving the donation on behalf of the Department of Agriculture, Mr. Fleming stated that “shredded paper further enriches the soil by adding organic matter via the decomposition of the paper and the Department is thankful for this donation.”
Mr. James Wood Q.C., Hon. Attorney General, who also serves as Resident Director of the Centre said “The Centre is a Publishing House and we make every attempt to remain green conscious. The donation of this shredded paper to be used as recycled material forms part of our efforts to remain green conscious.”
