SHOOTING AT COPSE, EAST END

The following press release was issued by the Royal Anguilla Police Force:

On Monday 28th July, 2014 at about 9:20 pm the Police received a report at The Valley Police Station of a male person lying on the side of the road in The Copse, East End. Officers of the Royal Anguilla Police Force and the Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) of the Princess Alexandra Hospital responded to the report. On arrival the officers of the RAPF found the body of Clarence Allister Phillip Lewis, age 21 of The Copse, East End lying face down and motionless on the side of the road.
The body was examined by Doctor Shani Hughes-Richardson at the scene. There were two visible injuries, one to the upper left portion of his body and the other to his back. Clarence Allister Phillip Lewis was pronounced dead by Dr. Shani Hughes-Richardson at about 10:20 pm. The Coroner who was on the scene granted permission for the body to be taken to Two Sons Funeral Home to await a post-mortem.
The Royal Anguilla Police Force Criminal Investigation Department has commenced a murder investigation and several items of evidential value including one firearm were collected by the Scenes of Crime officers for analysis and further investigation. Three persons are in Police custody assisting the Criminal Investigation Department with the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police of the RAPF, Mr. Rudolph Proctor, takes this opportunity to thank all those persons who have provided information and assistance to the Royal Anguilla Police Force thus far. However, the RAPF is further appealing to members of the public who were in the vicinity, or have information about the incident, to contact the Royal Anguilla Police Force at telephone numbers 497 2333, 497 5333 or RAPF Tips web www.gov.ai911. Your information will be kept in strict confidence.

The Police were to have announced the arresting and charging of a person or persons on Wednesday. However up to press time no such announcement was received.
