A problem affecting the beaches of Anguilla in the recent past appears to be recurring. Two to three weeks ago, a large swath of brown sea moss was seeing heading west on the north coast of Anguilla.
Now, the beach in the Windward Point/ Junks Hole area, on the east coast, and The Forest Beach, on the south coast, are littered with the debris from an unknown source. It is feared that other beaches on the island may be polluted in due course if the tide takes the sea moss there.
It took a lot of work by concerned citizens in particular, as well as other persons and agencies, to clean up a number of the beaches, including Island Harbour and Sandy Hill beaches, when the sea moss first appeared there.
