Dr. Aisha Andrewin will assume the post of Chief Medical Officer in the Ministry of Health & Social Development on 18th August 2014. Dr. Andrewin is a Belize national who earned her medical degree from the University of the West Indies. She holds a Masters degree in International Public Health from National Yang-Ming University in Twain and a Masters degree in Public Health in Disasters. Dr Andrewin possesses more than a decade of experience across the areas of clinical medicine, epidemiology and programme oversight. She comes to Anguilla with a wealth of experience in HIV/AIDS, non-communicable disease management, communicable disease response and International Health Regulations. In addition to her postings as a hospital based medical doctor, Dr. Andrewin has worked with the Belize Ministry of Health as the National Epidemiologist and has served as a consultant for regional organizations such as the Pan American Health Organization and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
As the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Andrewin will be responsible for regulating the provision of healthcare services, managing essential public health functions and for providing technical advice to the Ministry of Health amongst other duties. The Ministry of Health welcomes Dr. Andrewin’s appointment.
