The Hospitality Division Advisory Committee (HDAC) of the Anguilla Community College held its second meeting on Thursday 24th July 2014. The committee is comprised of ACC staff and other stakeholders in the hospitality industry locally and regionally. Dr. Tony Henthorne, Professor and Associate Dean of the University of Las Vegas, chairs the committee. The HDAC is proud to announce its partnership with the Anguilla Tourist Board (ATB) to develop the Hospitality Ambassador’s Recruitment Programme (HARP). The ATB has donated US$8,058.00 for the programme to be conducted.
The HARP is a programme designed to better equip students from the secondary school to transition to the world of work and is geared towards persons entering the hospitality industry for the first time. The two-week intense programme gives students an overview of hospitality operations. The programme comprises of one week of general sessions with training in the soft skills areas, including protocol, etiquette, positive attitudes, customer service delivery skills and much more. During the second week the group will be divided into rooms division and food and beverage to get more in depth training in their area of interest.
The Hospitality Division Advisory Committee of the Anguilla Community College is looking forward to the support of industry partners for this initiative. Participants who successfully complete the programme will be more marketable and knowledgeable as well as better poised for entering the Hospitality Industry and making a valuable contribution to the growth and development of this sector.
