The success of the recently concluded Anguilla Summer Festival 2014 would not have been possible without the efforts and contributions of many persons. I publicly thank the Former Chairman, the Acting Chairman and members of the Anguilla Summer Festival Committee, as well as the Chairman and members of the Anguilla Boat Racing Committee, for a well- organized and executed week of carnival and boat racing events. We are exceedingly grateful that you continue to volunteer your time, talents and efforts to making our greatest cultural showcase a reality.
Sincere gratitude is also extended to the business community for their sponsorship for the various events and to the vendors, contractors and suppliers for their continued support of the festival.
Thanks to the many persons who participated in the various carnival shows. The performances at all shows were of a high standard. I must congratulate all the winners. I am certain that you will represent Anguilla well over the course of the next year. Thanks are also extended to those who participated in the boat races. The keenly contested races helped to keep the passion and excitement for the sport alive. Congratulations to the winning boats whose captain and crew whose skill and teamwork would have secured your victory.
Special thanks and commendations are extended to the Commissioner and other ranks of the Royal Anguilla Police Force for a superb job in ensuring the safety of the public during the summer festivities. Commendations as well to JTR Security which did a thorough job in ensuring that security at the events was not compromised. Both agencies demonstrated through their professionalism that they understood the seriousness of their role and as result of their efforts and the cooperation of the public we can boast that our summer festival was without serious incident.
The support of the Anguillian public cannot be overlooked. Appreciation is expressed for your support of the various events during the day and night. Your participation truly kept the spirit of this cultural event alive and made it all worthwhile.
Government must now continue its efforts to establish suitable mechanisms to ensure the viability and growth of the Anguilla Summer Festival. We trust that our efforts will continue to have the support of the Anguillian community as we build a festival of which we can all be proud.
