Over 25 persons from throughout the Anguillian community this week completed a four week intensive news reading and general presentation workshop held two days each week at the government funded radio station located on the top floor of the Treasury.
Members of the Radio Anguilla staff also actively participated in the workshop.
The workshop was suggested by the management team at the radio station as a way of enticing members of the public with an interest in radio broadcasting and more particularly news presentations to be trained and later volunteer in this key area at the national broadcasting entity.
Among the areas covered during the weekly training exercise – held outside of the normal working hours – were pronunciation, breathing, projection, vocal stressing, inflection, pitch, emphasis, brininging the news story to life and the need to be seated properly during news presentations.
Keith ‘Stone’ Greaves, Programme Manager at Radio Anguilla, facilitated the workshop.
For the final two sessions – two notable persons from the community -Rev. Dr H. CliftonNiles and retired Justice of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court Don Mitchell QC – were invited to listen to the news presentations by the participants and provide feedback.
Certificates of participation were on Wednesday afternoon handed out during a brief ceremony at the conference room of the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The news reading workshop was free !!!
Radio Anguilla would like to thank the Ministry of Home Affairs, DITES, Rev. Niles, Justice Mitchell QC, Anguilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry and all the participants for their support.
