The full day of training, at Viceroy’s Joannis Conference Room, was held on July 15. It was organised by the National Disaster Management Committee through the Mitigation Working Group of its Strategic Planning Sub-Committee.

The training covered the following areas: existing hazards within the workplace; what mitigation measures should be in pace to avoid fires; steps to be taken in the event of a fire; evacuation procedures; and a practical session on the use of fire extinguishers.

The training was facilitated by the Anguilla Fire and Rescue Service and was coordinated by the Department of Disaster Management.

The sponsors and contributors to the event were Viceroy Resorts and Residences, Frangipani Resort, NAGICO Insurance Co. Ltd, the Anguilla Social Security Board, Carimar Beach Resort and the National Bank of Anguilla.
