Wednesday evening, July 9, afforded young people in Anguilla a well-deserved opportunity to express their views on a number of matters of national interest. And the Atlin Noraldo Harrigan Parliamentary Building was the right place for the forum dubbed “Open Mic 6”.
The forum was hosted by the Department of Youth and Culture, one of the emerging strong agencies of Government, in collaboration with the Anguilla National Youth Council and the National Youth Ambassador Corps.
“Open Mic” is a public youth forum which features a panel debate and discussion, geared towards informing and educating young people on topics of national interest in Anguilla. Wednesday’s forum also gave young people an opportunity to express their views through a question and answer segment. “Open Mic” had as its theme: Youth perspective in Governance: A case for a National Youth Parliament.
The organisers of the forum encouraged all young people and youth organisations to make an assertive effort to attend and participate in it. Ministers of Government and candidates for the upcoming general election were also invited to be part of the public forum.
