WITHOUT PREJUDICE
Dear Mr. Rey,
I am extremely disturbed and hurt by’ your recent public actions and statements in which you have knowingly or unknowingly participated in perpetrating a grave falsehood against me. I refer specifically to the allegations and statements you made about me directly and indirectly in the course of being interviewed by Mr. Keithstone Greaves on Wednesday May 28, 2014, as a guest on the talk show, Talk Anguilla on Radio Anguilla, hosted by him.
You read from the text of an email that you alleged was written and sent by me on May 16, 2014 to several members of the leadership of the AUF. This email is bogus and a total fake. I state to you categorically that it was neither composed nor sent by me to the addressees to whom you alleged it was sent, during your interview. I am neither the author, nor the source of the content of the email and I did not send it. It is absolutely bogus.
Your reading of excerpts from or the entire email itself has severely hurt me. By reading the email on public radio, you have perpetrated a serious and irresponsible attack on my character, ethics, integrity, trustworthiness and reputation. I have at all times tried my best to conduct myself as a mature and responsible person, citizen of Anguilla and as a professional.
I will not stand idly by in the face of what I fear may be a despicable conspiracy against me. I will strongly respond to this attack on me. I will do all that is operationally and legally possible and necessary to vigourously defend my character, integrity, ethics, trustworthiness and reputation. In short I am resolved to defend my name against all the false allegations direct and indirect that you have leveled at me on Talk Anguilla, wittingly or unwittingly. I am prepared to take every step necessary and possible to unearth and expose the truth behind the alleged email, especially the person or persons who composed or participated in its composition and in distributing it over the Internet and by hard copy to the public in Anguilla.
I also, as necessary, will seek the truth behind the origins and sources of any associated documentation that may have led to the bogus email of May 16 and in particular the facts and truth regarding what at face value constitute a legal and court matter that you had to deal with in the USA in or about 2006 -2008. I am prepared to spare no effort to expose the perfidy of those who for whatever reasons chose to create this fake email and who have sought to attribute its authorship to me, FritzG.Smith.
This incident, sadly, is indicative of the behavior of political actors whose prime motivation is their own political gain, the interest of Anguilla being secondary. I am strongly believe that we should develop and adhere to high standards in our politics, that we promote a political culture that is marked by maturity, decency, high standards of political ethics and an absence of polarization. It saddens me to think that personal political ambition should take precedence over the interest of the people of Anguilla.
The Royal Anguilla Police Force has been contacted regarding the investigation of this matter. I have also contacted a law firm to advise me on the options I have for legal recourse, as I seek to defend my name and expose what appears to be a deliberate set up and conspiracy on the part of those responsible for perpetrating this egregious falsehood. I also have initiated private research into the source or sources of the bogus email and to uncover the person or persons responsible for its dissemination and, as far as possible, its creation.
I am in possession of preliminary and basic factual and technical evidence showing that the authenticity of the email is highly questionable and beyond that, is outright bogus. Additional technical and factual evidence is being investigated with the aim of proving even more conclusively that the alleged email is not authentic and is a totally false document, concocted by persons with dishonourable intentions and objectives designed to hurt me personally.
Controversial and fraudulent matters of this nature should as far as possible be resolved with a minimum of acrimony between the parties. To this end, I am prepared to demonstrate to you objective evidence that shows the email to be bogus and made up by parties seeking to do harm to my reputation. I invite you to meet with me in the presence of two witnesses, one each selected by you and me respectively on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at a place and time to be mutually agreed, at which I will reveal to you evidence in my possession that the so called email is patently false and bogus. I would hope that in the face of the evidence you would reconsider your public denouncement of me using the false document and that you would be prepared to recant and withdraw your statements and publicly apologize to me.
I hope that you will respond positively to my invitation to meet with you to begin the process of finding out the truth and the facts about all aspects of this matter.
