The LIME Anguilla-sponsored Spelling B Competition, won on Thursday, May 15, by the Vivien Vanterpool Primary School, for the second consecutive year, attracted much public interest across the island. It was keenly contested by the various schools.
The Vivien Vanterpool School was awarded US$1,000 for placing first in the competition, thus repeating its excellent performance in the 2013 Spelling B Competition. Second place was taken by Valley Primary School which received US$750; and in third place was the Orealia Kelly School, winner of US$500.
LIME and the Education Department paid special recognition to a number of persons who contributed to the competition in several ways, and thanked them for their dedication and hard work.
Participation gifts – an all-in-one Canon printer, fax machine, scanner and US$300 – were presented to all the schools. All the participating students received “beat headsets”.
The Education Department thanked LIME for its longstanding sponsorship of the Spelling B Competition, and the Chief Education Officer, Mrs Rhonda Connor, made a presentation to the company in appreciation of twenty-five years of dedicated service to the competition. The gift, from the Department of Education, was presented to Ms Jade Reymond, LIME Anguilla’s Marketing & Corporate Communications Manager.
