One of Anguilla’s much-respected calypsonians, Calypso King Jerome Vanterpool alias “Lord Ranger”, has released his first song for carnival 2014 entitled “Victim of Child Molestation.” He explained that the song has a general application to an unfortunate situation in community life and was not related to any one specific case.
The song was released during an interview at Upbeat Radio on Monday, May 26, with Mello Sello.
Lord Ranger first entered the calypso competition in 2012 when he placed first runner-up. In 2013 he returned to the stage, stronger than before, and captured the crown. In releasing his new song, he expressed the hope to retain his crown this year.
Ranger is very passionate about calypso, and more so concerned about the greater good of the less fortunate in society. He stated that in 2013 he was standing in the gap for his ancestors; and that this year, 2014, he is standing in the gap for the youth regionally and locally.

With his vision to educate and empower persons as a musical ambassador, he says he is seeking to bring hope and justice to young people who are hurting – and in need of positive role models in their lives. He has stressed that as he sought to fight against injustice, he was a humanitarian at heart.

Lord Ranger recently represented Anguilla in the Caribbean King of Kings showdown in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands, where he “rocked the crowd with his performance.”
