The healthcare and professional skills of nurses employed by the Health Authority of Anguilla will be further enhanced at a one-day symposium to be held at Blue Ridge Conference Centre on Wednesday, May 14.
The nurses have been assisted in this regard by LIME Anguilla which has donated EC$4,000 towards the sponsorship of the symposium, to be facilitated by Ms Elnora Warner, a Principal Nursing Officer in Antigua.
Speaking at the cheque presentation ceremony on Tuesday, May 6, Ms Jade Reymond, LIME Anguilla’s Marketing Manager, said the donation was the first initiative of the telecommunication company for its new financial year under the campaign “LIME for Life”. She pledged that LIME would continue its commitment to the Anguillian community, particularly in the area of healthcare. “We welcome this opportunity, and we wish all of the nurses on Anguilla, who do a difficult job, the best of luck – and we will continue to support them in any way possible,” Ms Reymond added.
Nurse Fola Richardson, Treasurer of the Anguilla Nurses Association, and the Planner for the Symposium, thanked LIME for its assistance. She explained that the objective of the symposium, part of Nurses Week, was to assist the participants with various aspects of their professional nursing education. “The symposium will help the nurses to keep abreast with new trends in healthcare,” Nurse Richardson stated.
Nurses Week, of which the Medical Air Services Association (MASA) of Anguilla is the platinum sponsor, will begin in Anguilla on Saturday, May 10, with a church service at Jireh Tabernacle of Seventh-day Adventists at South Hill – so advised Nurse Christine Dupie, Vice Treasurer/Secretary of the Nurses Association. The theme of the week will be “Nurses leading the way.” The activities will include the Annual Health Fair on the grounds of the Princess Alexandra Hospital on Tuesday, May 13, from 10 am -2 pm, to which the general public is invited and to take advantage of the free testing services that will be available.
