No doubt spurred on by Colin Johnson, its mentor, motivator and celebrity, Yellow House has won the 2014 Albena Lake-Hodge Sports Day Competition with a comfortable lead over its nearest rival – Purple House.
The competition was held last week Thursday, April 10, when the participants and their cheer leaders from the five inter-school houses stormed the Ronald Webster Park in a riot of colour and festive appearance.
The large number of members of the public, on hand to witness the parade and the intense competition among the students, found themselves caught up in excitement. The opening ceremony was chaired by Teacher Avenella Gumbs. The main speakers were Mr Haydn Hughes, Parliamentary Secretary, Tourism and Sports; and Ms Jade Reymond, Marketing Manager for LIME Anguillla, the long-running overall sponsor of the annual event.
The day-long Sports Day meet saw the bulk of the competitive activities. (The road race, from Tropical Distributors at Sandy Hill to the Webster Park, was held the week before.)
