The two half-day sessions which were held on April 7, 2014 and April 8, 2014, took place at the Teachers’ Resource Centre from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon both days.
The programme is an annual ‘information-sharing’ event aimed at familiarizing new and continuing teachers with the Anguilla Public Service, its operations, policies and procedures. It is also a very opportune time to highlight some of the specific processes and guidelines which govern the employment of teachers in the Anguilla Public Service.

This year there was also a presentation from the Gender Unit, a newly established Unit at the Ministry of Home Affairs. The presentation entitled Dignity, Worth and Human Rights was done by Dr Ronya Foy-Connor, Gender Coordinator in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Dr Foy-Connor encouraged the teachers to recognize their worth as individuals and to impress upon their students, the need to do the same.
Other presentations included topics such as Understanding Government, Goals of the Anguilla Public Service, Who is Who in the Service, Expectations of Teachers, Social Security and You, Compensation and Benefits, Pensions, Recruitment, Training and Professionalism on the Job.

It is anticipated that by the end of the two half-day sessions the teachers would:-
i) achieve a better understanding of the Anguilla Public Service
ii) be aware of the importance of their positions in the service
iii) recognize their roles in assisting the Department of Education and ultimately the Anguilla Public Service to achieve its objectives.
The facilitators for the sessions were Mr Stanley Reid – Honourable Deputy Governor, Mrs Kathleen Rogers – Permanent Secretary, Public Administration, Mrs Lana Horsford-Harrigan – Director, Human Resource Management, Mrs C Charmaine Rogers, Deputy Director, Human Resource Management, Dr Ronya Foy-Connor, Gender Coordinator, Mr Arnie Hodge, Public Relations Officer/HR, Social Security, Miss Sherise Brooks, Human Resource Management Officer Ms Oronica Hughes – Training Officer and Mrs Monifa Gumbs, Accountant, Public Service Pension Fund.
