The Anguilla Amateur Basketball Association officially started their regular league tournament on Thursday 10th April with their first set of games. The Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School’s Team was pleasantly outfitted in brand new maroon and Gold Uniforms sponsored by Mary’s Bakery. Usually wearing regular T-shirts among the other uniformed teams, the school’s team is now equally well dressed.
Mary’s Bakery was founded in 1968 by the already established professional photographer, seamstress, farmer, and baker Mary Rogers Petty. Mother of 9 she was a dedicated philanthropist, advisor and supporter to many in her community and Anguilla. Today, Mary’s Bakery remains one of the leading bakeries in Anguilla offering a wide assortment of sandwiches, cakes, pastries and food.
Mary’s eldest son and second nominated member of the House of Assembly, The Honourable Mr. Leroy Rogers said, “we have sponsored many teams in the past and though the financial climate on the island is fraught, our family remains committed to giving back to the youth of Anguilla and the communities that have supported Mary’s bakery for decades.” He also noted, “Mummy would be proud of this venture as she too was always giving back”.
The Management and staff of Mary’s Bakery wish the Spartans Team the best of luck this season.
