The Organising Committee for Festival Del Mar at Island Harbour Bay, this weekend, has released biographical information on American country singer and songwriter, Rissi Palmer, who will be in Anguilla to perform at the event.
Ms Palmer, who hails from Tennessee, was invited to Anguilla through Island Harbour’s country and western singer, Evan Webster. Mr Othlyn Vanterpool, Chairman of Festival Del Mar, speaking at a LIME Anguilla sponsorship cash presentation ceremony on Tuesday, said in part: “We are getting that sorted out. Most of the cost that we are involved in will be for the ticket. We were able to raise some of that money from individuals; a car has been given to us by Tripple K Car Rental; Anguilla Air Services will be providing a portion of the flight – from St Maarten to Anguilla. I just got the good news from CuisinArt Golf Resort and Spa that they will be providing accommodation for them [Rissi, her husband and her guitarist]. They will be coming on Saturday, April 19, and will be leaving on April 22.”
According to her biographical notes, since releasing her self-titled CD in October 2007, Mrs Palmer has received widespread media attention. This came from the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, People Magazine, GIANT, New York Post, VIBE, CBS Saturday Early Show, Huffington Post, Extra, CNN, and many more.
The biographical notes continued: “Palmer’s singles “Country Girl”, “Hold On To Me” and “No Air”, were all chart breakers on Billboard Country Charts, [and she] recorded an exclusive album for Starbucks. Her videos were fan favourites on CMT and GAC and she has been an invited performer at the White House and the Grand Ole Opry on numerous occasions.
“In 2013, she released her children’s LP simply entitled Best Day Ever, featuring ten songs. The entire project is filled with songs from the perspective of a child – the simple – yet profound things— that make life the “best day ever” for children in so many ways. The album is available now on iTunes, Amazon, Cd Baby, and all major digital music outlets.
“Rissi is currently writing and recording material for a new album with a sound that she describes as a ‘mixture of the country and soul music I grew up listening to.’ The project is slated for release in 2014.”
Many persons in Anguilla, who are conversant with the American artistes singing performances, are anxiously looking forward to meeting and hearing her at Festival Del Mar.
