Dear sir
It has been my intention for several weeks to let the general public be conscious of the way in which garbage is being disposed of around the whole island.
On every road there are garbage disposal bins. When you look, the bins are almost empty and sometimes empty – yet all around the bins the garbage is strewn on the ground. Then on every stretch of road, as far as the eye can see, garbage and more garbage.
This garbage consists of bottles, cans, plastic bags with or without garbage, old clothes, baby pampers, food containers, cups, household items, you name it, and it’s there. Plastic bags are flying high. Some are caught in trees and others on fences along the road.
Now, garbage breeds lots of germs which in turn promote different kinds of deadly diseases. We as a people should promote good health. One of the ways we can do so is by stop throwing our garbage anywhere, and everywhere, except where it should really go.
Fellow Anguillians and friends, it’s really despicable and sickening. I’ve never seen Anguillians so lawless with their disposal of garbage like it is now.
I’ve been to a big Caribbean country and they do not have a proper system for garbage disposal as we do, and it was just a nuisance to see garbage everywhere. We here in Anguilla do not want anything like that. We can do better, and have done better. So please stop the littering of garbage behind and in front of every tree or bush. It is disgusting to see and very harmful to our health.
Sincerely
A born Anguillian
