The Royal Anguilla Police Force Welfare Association has presented a cheque in the sum of US$6,416.00 to the Health Authority of Anguilla to assist in upgrading the quality of service at the Miriam Gumbs Senior Citizens Home.
In making the presentation on Wednesday, March 5, Commissioner Rudolph Proctor said the money was donated for the purchase of a food trolley and 24 trays.

“Every year, for Police Week, we apply to the Government to grant us duty-free concessions on a vehicle that we raffle with the intention of giving back to our community some of the funds that we make,” Mr Proctor told reporters. “Last week we donated towards the heathcare of a young child who was going overseas for medical attention, and now we are giving back to our senior citizens.”

The Commissioner added: “It is indeed a privilege and a pleasure to do this, and I hope the residents and staff of the Miriam Gumbs Senior Citizens Home will certainly enjoy this gift from the Royal Anguilla Police Force.”

The cheque was presented to Ms Coreen Hodge, Manager of the Home. She expressed gratitude to the Police, noting that the money would fulfil a longtime need at the facility – to serve meals to the residents in an improved manner.
