The Government of Anguilla has always stated its intention to implement renewable energy integration, and to that end organized the Renewable Energy Integration project with funding from CDKN. A large number of us attended meetings and a workshop in the belief the Government was sincere. The Government then took the consultant's recommendations and asked for additional funds to implement the legislative changes. After all that was done, Government did nothing. Nothing at all. Approximately US$300,000 was wasted.
We have installed 600KW of rooftop solar PV in St. Kitts for a business that is seeing an energy cost reduction of 50%. We are driving an electric car around Anguilla, the first on the island. We charge it from solar. This is all possible and we have done it. It works. For the next election, let's make politicians clarify their position with a pledge to support renewables.
