Over one hundred Fourth Form female students of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School (AL-HCS) attended the annual ‘Virtuous Lady’ Seminar at LA VUE Hotel/ Flavours Restaurant, South Hill, on Thursday March 6th, 2014.
The event was organised by the school’s Guidance and Counselling Department with the objective of helping students to recognize that they are valuable and that success can be a part of their future. The interactive sessions provided students with information and inspiration to take positive action towards their own growth.
The facilitators and sessions were as follows: Mrs. Shellecia Brooks-Johnson – Effective Communication; Ms. Regine Niles and Mrs. Carrol Shannon – Healthy Relationships With Boys; Nurse Dana Ruan and Mrs. Maeza Demis-Adams – Sex and Me; Mrs Tasita Bryan – What It Means To Be A Virtuous Lady; Mrs. Janelle Connor – Getting Along With Your Parents; and Ms. Shannette Brooks, Ms. Keri Gumbs, and Ms. Natasha Richardson – Resolving Conflict.
The afternoon sessions focused on the topic ‘A Healthier You’ and were facilitated by the following: Mrs. Shanique Ritchie-Romney and Ms. Dalicia Carty – Hair Care; Mrs. Marissa Hughes and Ms. Violet Gumbs – Totally Fit; Ms. Melva Richardson – Skin Care; and Mrs. Kewana Jean – Interior Design.
Principal, Mrs. Ingrid Lake; Guidance Counsellors; and Year Four female students of the AL-HCS would like to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the sponsors and facilitators who made the Virtuous Lady Seminar a huge success.
Thanks to Mr. Kirk Hughes, proprietor of LA VUE Hotel/ Flavours Restaurant, and his staff, for accommodating the event and providing assistance as needed throughout the day. To the various restaurants, churches, and individuals who sponsored refreshments and lunch, we say a huge thank you. Your generous contributions helped to offset the cost associated with holding such a large-scale event.
