The Miriam Gumbs Senior Citizens’ Home was the recipient of a walker and a quantity of sanitary supplies from Her Majesty’s Prison, on Monday this week.
The presentation was made by the Superintendent of the Prison, Mr Conrad Gumbs, who was accompanied by a number of officers. He said that while the prison was a place for the incarceration of offenders, it had a duty to look at the welfare of persons in need – particularly the elderly. He made the presentation to the Head Nurse, Coreen Hodge.
Replying, she stated that the items would be of much assistance to the care of the inmates – and was pleased that the Prison Department was aware of the needs of the Home and was willing to make a useful contribution.
