The Anguilla National Youth Council (ANYC), under the auspices of the Department of Youth and Culture held its General Elections on January 10th, 2014 at The Governor’s Residence. The event began promptly at 6:00pm with open nominations made by members of the ANYC. That segment was chaired by Mrs. Marissa Hughes.
The newly elected members for the 2014-2016 ANYC Executive Committee are as follow: – President – Mr. Michali Rey; Vice President – Ms. Rochelle Rogers; Secretary-Ms. Melissa Hamm; Treasurer – Ms. Gleneva Hodge; Asst. Secretary-Treasurer – Mr. Khendon Hull and Public Relations Officer – Mr. Clemvio Hodge.
Following the General Elections, certificates were formally presented to all persons who participated in the Youth Empowerment seminar and training held during the 7th Annual National Conference on Youth and Development in December 2013. This segment was aptly chaired by Ms. Amethyst Davis, the reigning Ms. Anguilla.
During the certificate giving ceremony special remarks were given by the Hon. Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Jerome Roberts and HE The Governor, Ms. Christina Scott. Minister Roberts urged the newly elected executive body to connect with their district representative and raise issues and concerns affecting the youth. He also encouraged them to attend sitting of the House of Assembly. HE The Governor reminded the youth that “they are the leaders of today” and encouraged them to become actively involved in national development. She re-assured her continued support for them.
