“Fostering Community Participation, Creating a Crime-free Nation” is the theme of Police Week 2014 in observance of the 42 Anniversary of the Royal Anguilla Police Force. The event will be held during the period Saturday January 25 to Saturday, February 1.
The programme is under the chairmanship of Sergeant Randolph Yearwood. The various activities will commence with a Church Service at the Mount Fortune Seventh-day Adventist Church with members of the Anguilla Police and the Volunteer Korps Service of St Maarten in attendance. In the evening there will be a Radio Anguilla broadcast by Her Excellency the Governor, Ms Christina Scott at 8. There will also be a Unity Drumming event in The Valley at 5 pm; and a Unity Jam at 8 pm, involving a number of young people, at the Commercial Complex.
On Sunday, January 26, at 11 am, there will be the Commissioner of Police Domino Finals at Police Headquarters, and in the evening a radio broadcast by Commissioner Rudolph Proctor.
On Monday, January 27, there will be a morning lecture at Police Headquarters for officers at 9; and an address to students at Campus B at 10.30 am. This will be followed at 7.30 pm with the annual Spelling B Competition at the Orealia Kelly Primary School.
On Tuesday, January 28, will be Open House at Police Headquarters commencing at 10 am; and at 7.30 pm a Gospel Concert at Bethel Methodist Church.
On Wednesday, January 29, will be a Food Fair at Police Headquarters at 12 noon; and at 8 pm, the Hilarious Laugh a Laugh event at Landsome Bowl Cultural Centre.
On Thursday, January 30, will be the Senior Citizens Luncheon at Police Headquarters; and at 8 pm the Regional Police Queen Show at Landsome Bowl Cultural Centre.
On Friday, January 31, will be the Bingo (jackpot event) with a grand prize of US$4,000. It will be held on the grounds of Police Headquarters. At 11 pm will be a Back-in-Time Dance at the Red Dragon Disco.
The programme will climax on Saturday, February 1, with a walk commencing at 5 am from Police Headquarters. At 10 am will be a Kiddies Jamboree on the grounds of Police Headquarters; and at 7.30 pm will be the Police Dinner & Ball at Flavours Restaurant.
A raffle of a 2014 Lincoln MKZ vehicle is also part of the Police Week programme.
