The Anguilla Red Cross has closed its one one full basket mobilization strategy” in aid of its Wheelchair Bus Project designed to help match the US$9,000.00 donated by the British Red Cross. Of particular help was a contribution of US$2,000.00 from National Caribbean Insurance Co. Ltd.
In presenting the Check to the Anguilla Red Cross, Mrs. Venice Richardson, National Caribbean Insurance Co. Ltd, branch manager, said that National Caribbean Insurance always has an interest in the Community it serves and always looks for ways to make contributions to organizations and projects that will benefit the whole community. The wheelchair bus project is one such project. I believe it is a good gesture to support and contribute to the Anguilla Red Cross for this is a worthy cause.
The branch has exceeded the matching US$9,000.00 offer by raising a total of US$11,000.00. The British Red Cross has not only kept its commitment to match the US$9,000.00 but has contributed a further US$2,400.00 toward the project. With the US$33,000 raised previously, the US$11000 raised in the last two weeks and the US$11,400.00 from British Red Cross the branch has now raised a total of US$55,000.00.
With a commitment of future contributions from individual donors and the Government of Anguilla, the Branch is aiming to buy a new a bus rather than a nearly new bus as earlier indicated.
