The grounds of Government House were the scene of a large Christmas party on Tuesday evening, organised by Governor Christina Scott and her office and residence staff members.

While the delightful annual event presented an opportunity to share the festive season with many guests, it was also a way of collecting Christmas gifts and monetary contributions for distribution to children and disadvantaged families.

The guests, from the public and private sectors, were welcomed by Governor Scott. She thanked them for filling the wheelbarrows, at the entrance to Government House, with wrapped gifts to be distributed to the children at a special weekend party with “Father Christmas”.

“We are very grateful for your generosity,” the Governor said. “I know a number of you have given some cash donations, and we will be making those go towards a charity that is helping disadvantaged families over Christmas; so we will be making good use of that money as well.

“I also want to wish you a Happy Christmas.”
