The Anguilla Commonwealth Games Association has expressed thanks and appreciation to Ms Aimee Maggiciacomo who has completed an assignment as Capacity Support Officer with the grouping.
Speaking at a farewell function over the past weekend, the Association’s President, Kenn Banks, said Amiee had been in Anguilla since January 2013 and would be leaving the island this month to return to Canada. She is attached to the Commonwealth Games Association there.
“She was very instrumental in getting the office of the Anguilla Commonwealth Games Association going and helping us to function professionally,” Mr Banks said at the farewell ceremony. “I think that without Aimee it would not have happened. Amiee worked very hard. Apart from being in the office, she was also involved in the community and worked with several schools. We are sad to see her go, and we will ensure that all her good work will continue to be upheld. It was good having her with us and we wish her all the best in the future.”
Amiee was presented with a token of appreciation by Ms Carmen Gumbs who worked with her over the past eight months, and has taken over her duties at the office of the Anguilla Commonwealth Games Association.
Replying, Aimee said: “It has been a remarkable experience in Anguilla for me – and to have a send-off like this is something that I am truly thankful for. It just shows the bonds that have been created. I am humbled and grateful for this expression of appreciation.
“There is nothing short of being proud of what has been accomplished. We did everything together and it was definitely a team effort. I am excited what those who were with me will do next.”
Ms Maggiacomo returned to Canada on Tuesday this week, December 17.
