Dear Sir,
Re: The Constitutionality of Oct. 25, 2013 Sitting of House of Assembly
In your capacity as the legal expert /advisor in both Executive Council and the House of Assembly, we seek your opinion on the above-captioned matter.
It is our understanding that you were in attendance (for a short time) at the said meeting of the House of Assembly on Friday October 25th 2013 and would have recognized that there was no quorum as required by the Anguilla Constitution. As a result of the lack of a quorum, you and the Acting Deputy Governor sought permission from the Speaker of the House and left the Assembly, thus having no further part in those proceeding .We, the Members of the Parliamentary Opposition, are requesting a legal opinion on the legitimacy and/or constitutionality of that particular Sitting of the House of Assembly as well as a determination as to the validity of the Legislation passed at that meeting.
Grateful if you would give this matter your usual prompt and diligent cooperation.
With best wishes.
Sincerely,
Evans McNiel Rogers
Leader of the Opposition & Member for Valley North
Edison A. Baird
Member for Road North
