October, Vector Awareness Month, 2013, climaxed on Wednesday this week with a presentation of prizes to the winners of the various competitions which were all part of a series of activities.
The winners were as follows:
The Pre-School Jingle Competition- 1st : St Mary’s Anglican Pre-School; 2nd: Church of God of Prophecy; and 3rd: The Outreach Pre-School.
Primary School Poster and Theme Competition- 1st: Daneice Hodge (Central Baptist); 2nd: Shaneka Charles (Valley Primary); and 3rd: Marie Viilagomez (Teacher Gloria Omolulu Institute).
ALHCS Campus A Inter-House Spelling B Competition- 1st: Orange House (Jayda Hughes, JaronDupie and Lasana Reid); 2nd: Pink House (Kyiv Edwards, Kenwal Hodge and Janique Fleming); 3rd: Maroon House (Malik Richardson,Aja Hodge, T. Kelsick and Arah Niles). The best speller was Jayda Hughes.
The Stanley Mussington Essay Competition: The winner was Khadeja Fleming.
Best Kept Cemetery Competition- 1st Shimei Seventh-day Adventist Church; 2nd: Ebenezer Methodist Church; and 3rd: Church of God of Prophecy (West End).
The closing ceremony was addressed Dr Bonnie Richardson-Lake, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Social Development. She congratulated the winners of the competitions; the staff of the Department of Health Protection and the Environmental Heath Unit for organising Vector Awareness Month; and thanked the Caribbean Commercial Bank for sponsoring the month of activities for the eighth consecutive year.
