The Adrian T Hazell Primary School now has computer equipment for all of its classes, from grades one to sixth, thanks to an investor living abroad but owns one of the estate homes at the Golf Course project.
The investor, Mr John Howard, donated 25 laptops to the school on Tuesday this week through his Anguilla representative, Mr Warren Buddle.
According to a statement from the school, the computer equipment was a special project started by Mrs Electra Buddle, one of the teachers who wanted to provide her students with the opportunity to use computersmore frequently.
Additionally, she wanted to give her students, who do not have computers readily available at home, an opportunity to complete their Education City homework – or other online assignments – during school hours. The entire school and students will now benefit from Mr Howard’s generous donation.
Mrs Mavis Fleming-Drakes, Principal of the school, has sent a letter to Mr Howard expressing, on behalf the students, staff and administration, profound gratitude. She wrote in part: “Having the laptops available in each classroom to access Education City for science, literacy, numeracy and civic education, is a very important strategy. It will ensure that our students are better equipped for our technologically advanced world. The laptops will allow each teacher to prepare for and project lessons that are engaging and stimulating. Thus we are deeply grateful for your generous gift and for your support for our academic programme.”
The Principal added in her letter: “We are proud to have teachers like Teacher Electra Carty-Buddle and her husband, Mr Warren Buddle. They have gone beyond the call of duty to ensure that our students get the best education possible.”
Tuesday’s presentation ceremony was attended Education Planner, Mrs Dawn Reid; Education Officer, Jacqueline Connor; and Mr and Mrs Warren Buddle as well as the school’s teaching staff and students.
