School Health Services in conjunction with principals, teachers and students at the primary schools (government and private) and the ALHCS campuses, participated in the celebration of Global Hand Washing Day on October 15th.
On that day, the goal of PAHO/WHO was to have over a million persons demonstrating proper hand washing across countries of the Americas. Global Hand Washing Day was established in 2011 by PAHO, and the countries of the Americas, to engage participants and attract media attention for promoting proper hand washing with soap and water.
At the schools here in Anguilla, students and staff took turns demonstrating proper hand washing techniques. The importance of proper hand washing was emphasized during school assembly as well as in classroom sessions. Posters/handouts demonstrating good hand washing techniques were also distributed and displayed in schools.
