Saturday, September 28, at Shemei Tabernacle, the Long Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church, was a significant moment in the life of Mrs Omah Richardson.
Teacher Omah, as she is affectionately called by many of her past students, was honoured by several of them. They came together to pay tribute to the contribution she made as a teacher to their academic, personal and professional development.
The past students were all taught by Mrs Richardson during her tenure at the St Kitts-Nevis Technical College where she taught English Language – except for one student whom she taught at the primary school level. (Mrs Richardson concluded her teaching career in Anguilla as a teacher at the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School.)
The very emotional ceremony saw persons, all of whom are mature individuals well beyond forty years old, recount their experiences as students of Mrs Richardson who was obviously moved by the surprise gesture.
Teacher Omah was presented with a bouquet of flowers, a card and a small monetary contribution. She thanked the group for its initiative. She was accompanied at the ceremony by one of her daughters – Mrs Sherrille Hughes, Director of Paradise Cove Resort at West End.
