The Anguilla Statistics Department (ASD) along with other member and associate member states of CARICOM observed Caribbean Statistics Day on October 15th, 2012 under the theme “Statistics in Every Life – Let us Educate and Appreciate”. This year celebrations Stats Week in Anguilla, the fifth of its kind recognises the pivotal role played by statistics in everyday life, in all spheres, at the national, regional and international level.
Additionally, this year is being celebrated as International Year of Statistics and agencies all over the world including statistical agencies, the United Nations and CARICOM have endorsed this initiative.
As part of the Anguilla Statistics Week 2013, the (ASD) held a word creation competition which opened on September 27, 2013 to all primary school for students in grades 3 to 6.The competition closed on October 9th, 2013.
The participation for the fifth annual Word Creation competition, where student were asked to submit one entry containing as many English words as possible from the phrase: ‘Statistics in Every Life’ was encouraging.
The ASD received over 150 entries from eight (8) primary schools with the eventual winners being;

Second Place – Rashain Cadice (Valley) – 2434 valid words

First Place – Caedon Fleming (AAPS) – 1954 valid words
Second Place – Sharnique Fleming (VVPS) -1190 valid words
Third Place – Ailda Williams (AAPS) – 1056 valid words
