POLICE INVESTIGATING BURGLARIES, OTHER OFFENCES

Several burglaries are among a number of criminal matters now being investigated by Police in Anguilla. In all, there have been seven burglaries, one robbery and two thefts.

The Police Report, issued on Wednesday, stated that on Sunday, September 15, a report was received that Fair Play Jewellery Store was broken into. The glass door was smashed and several items, including wrist watches, were stolen. Two other businesses in the surrounding areas were also burglarised –Exotic Hair and Beauty Supplies and Unbelievable Divas Store.

The seven burglaries, referred to above, were committed at North Side, The Valley, South Hill and The Forest. The list of stolen items included a BlackBerry cellular phone, a bicycle, jewellery, a meter box, interior and exterior doors, laptop computers, digital cameras, ladies watches, cosmetic hair products, electrical equipment, Nike shoes and a large sum of US and EC coins.

There were two thefts at The Quarter and South Hill. A handbag and a car battery were among the items stolen.

On Tuesday night, September 17, the Police responded to a robbery at North Hill. It was reported that two masked men, armed with firearms, robbed a couple of all their personal belongings.

In another incident, the Police Drugs and Firearms Task Force seized a total of 137 cannabis plants in the North Side area and 236 in the Blowing Point area. No arrests have been made so far.

Twelve arrests were made during the period September 11-18 as follows: seven males on suspicion of theft; two males on default warrants; one male for possession of cannabis; one male for possession of a firearm and ammunition; and one male for criminal damage.
