Police Commissioner Rudolph Proctor told reporters Wednesday that nobody had notified the Police about last Sunday’s motorcade rally which followed the tragic death of two young men in an accident in the early hours of Friday morning, September 20.
Mr Proctor said the Police were particularly disappointed that some persons used the occasion to make excessive noise by “burning and screeching tyres” leaving marks and smoke on the road, and triggering complaints by motorists and other persons. He thought that this was reckless driving in the sense that another serious accident could have resulted, and was disrespectful to the families mourning the loss of their loved ones.
The Commissioner stated that the matter was being investigated with a view to prosecuting persons for illegal activity on the Long Path.
