Gadget City, the new store near J.W. Proctor’s corner, is now open to provide Anguillians with everything electronic as well as technical support. It is owned by Elias and Candis Mkoba who previously had the successful Computer Superstore for the past seven years. The new store is over 3400 square feet, many times larger than the previous one which, though small, serviced the community well.
The young couple, both teachers, have worked tirelessly to complete the store that they started to be build in September 2011. Much of the work was completed by them – including the final setting up of shelves, electrical work and painting to ensure an opening in late July this year.

The store has laptop computers, desktop computers, tablets and keyboards, cartridges, printers and other necessary accessories. It also has televisions, DVDs, home entertainment sets, high end headphones, digital cameras and games.

Elias’ first love is computer repair and both he and Candis can assist with any computer problems and repairs. They are also now offering a printing, scanning and photocopying service.

One of the attractions at the store is a free WiFi lounge where customers can relaxand enjoy a cup of coffee or bush tea, discuss their purchases or problems or wait for printing to be completed. There is a scanner and printer in the lounge for customers.

Elias and Candis met at the University of Brock in Canada. He is originally from Tanzania but following college days has lived and worked in Anguilla. He currently teaches physics at the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School but Candis resigned from teaching some five years ago to spend her time managing the store, open from Monday to Friday 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.
