The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank has engaged the media in its regional member territories in exploring the theme for Financial Information Month in October 2013. The video conference meeting was held at the branch office in Anguilla and in the other territories.

The objectives of the meeting, on Thursday afternoon, August 15, were to engage the media and other attendees in a mini workshop to explore the campaign challenge and theme: “Reshaping Our Future, Starting Now”; to provide a forum for closer networking between partners from the financial sector and the media; to energise media attendees around the Financial Information Month campaign theme and programmes, and get them into an action mode; and to solicit the collaboration of all sectors in driving the campaign initiatives.
The Financial Information Month initiatives include programmes for students as follows: colouring educational activities and a quiz for primary schools; presentations on financial, economic, business and entrepreneurial issues for high schools and colleges; programmes for teachers such as workshops on innovation and business planning hosted by the ECCB; and programmes for businesses. The progammes for businesses will comprise promoting financial education in the workplace; a business symposium and an innovation forum by the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union; small business workshops; and a train the trainers’workshop for financial practitioners.
