In last week’s edition of The Anguillian it was stated that CeBlue, a luxury boutique hotel in Anguilla, had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Anguilla Government to operate as “a timeshare fractional ownership resort.”
We wish to clarify that CeBlue is not a timeshare resort. It is in fact a fractional ownership resort providing ownership shares of the Anguilliancorporation that owns the property. These shares can be bought and sold at the discretion of the owner.
Timeshare is only a right to use for a period of time. There is no ownership of an asset. The fractional ownership model is in line with the typical upscale villa buyer. There is therefore a big difference between fractional ownership and timeshare.
