St Mary’s Anglican Pre-School has said farewell to seventy-two students who will be entering the Primary Schools’ education system in September.
The graduation ceremony, held on June 26, marked another successful year in the life of the pre-school and many years of contribution to early education in Anguilla by the Anglican Church.
In delivering the school’s 2013 annual report, the Principal, Mrs Hazel Brooks, said that the school year started with 173 students, comprising 96 girls and 77 boys. While 72 of them have now graduated, another 75 new children have been registered for September 2013.
“St Mary’s Pre-School aims at providing its pupils with an environment in which they are motivated in all areas of the curriculum,” the Principal stated. She added that this has had the effect of “laying the foundation for formal education.”
The Principal acknowledged the assistance of various businesses and individuals who were continuing to provide valuable support to the school.“The school continues to receive support from the Anglican Vestry, the Government of Anguilla, the Education Department, Mr Albert Lake and Mr Gilford Gumbs,” she stated.
“Many business places, parents and private individuals have once again made it possible for the school to provide the entire Class of 2013 with all the text books for the first year in primary school. We are indeed grateful to all those who have helped us.”
Mrs Brooks also spoke in appreciation of the sterling contribution of her teaching staff. “I would like to say ‘Thank You’ to our teachers for the hard work, patience, love and dedication that you have displayed over the years. Without you, these children could not have made it this far. You have given them a good foundation on which to build their future.”
To the children, the Principal said: “Congratulations to all of you for doing so well in school. I encourage you to hold on to your creativity for as long as possible. Work hard and try to remember the things that you were taught at St Mary’s Pre-School which will help you to complete your tasks in Primary School.”
Mrs Hazel Brooks expressed the pre-school’s gratitude to all parents and the President and Members of the Parent/Teachers Association Executive for their willingness and continued support.
