LIME Anguilla has expressed delight over a most successful and well-attended Bingo Evening it held on Friday, July5, to raise funds for the Arijah Foundation and the Blossom Centre in Anguilla.
“Given the torrents of rain, I really thought that the event would have been cancelled but, much to my surprise, people literally stood in the rain and felt the thrill of winning our jackpot of three thousand dollars,” LIME’s General Manager, Mark Romney, said. “That Bingo Evening was designed more around the Arijah Foundation. It is one of the very important institutions that we will continue to provide with much support as we can towards its continued development. The sort of commitment that Mrs Harrigan has placed in this institution was really a sign of wonders. We are proud of the great work she is continuing to do.”
Mr Romney said that LIME had undertaken to present EC$6,000 from the bingo event in the hope that it would go a long way in helping Mrs Harrigan stage her first 2013 Summer Camp.
Replying, Mrs RenukaHarrigan thanked LIME for its continued financial support which was part of what made it possible for her foundation to continue its work. She was particularly excited and encouraged by the contribution of the six thousand dollars, and surprised that so many participated in the Bingo Evening despite the rain – and supported LIME. “As partners, we want to see you benefit as well,” she stated. “We were encouraged to continue the work we are doing. It really means a lot to us, and shows the heart of a nation when people and businesses come together…to help those in need.”
Mrs Harrigan said it was a very exciting year for the Arijah Foundation and Blossom Centre (institutions for disabled children). “It is the first year that we are actually extending a Summer Camp for kindergarten children who are in need of extra support.” The three-week camp, starting on Monday, July 15, is to cater for twelve children.
